The Game:

3D side scrolling game to be created in Unity with assets from 3DS Max.

MY CONTRIBUTION

In terms of my role within this project, I was responsible for creating models that resemble kitchen utensils that would be used throughout the level as obstacles and climbing objects. Once I had completed by models, I then moved onto Unity and tried to familiarise myself with the programme by creating a test environment where the use is able to throw grenades.

From here, I then moved onto actually creating our game within Unity and importing all of the different models that the group had created, from here I applied the correct colliders (from mesh to box) and applied rigidbody physics so that they interacted like actual objects.

MODELS

In terms of the artwork that I created for the game, I created a number of different models using 3D Studio Max. I was given the responsibility of created the objects that would be used in the game and interacted with by the character, such as using them as platforms or blockage.

In terms of actually creating these models, as they are symmetrical, I decided that instead of using the prebuilt objects and then adjusting them within the software, I instead decided to make my own from scratch by using the spline tool. This allowed me to use a single line to essentially create half of the design and then lathe this line to create a round object. The only exception was the mug where I used this technique then bevelled two polygons which I then hinged from an edge to create the handle.
